Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP Announces 2023 Promotions to Partner

LOS ANGELES—Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP (JMBM) is pleased to announce the promotion of three associates to the Firm’s partnership: Trevor Countryman in the Real Estate Department, Megan Ferkel Earhart in the Taxation, Trusts & Estates Department, and Lara Leitner in the Litigation and Government, Land Use, Environment and Energy Departments.

Trevor Countryman advises clients in all aspects of real estate transactions including property acquisitions and dispositions, financing, leasing, development and construction. His clients range from large funds to individual developers and opportunistic investors, engaged in deals involving office, retail, multi-family, single-family, mixed-use and hotel properties. Trevor earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, and his B.A., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Southern California.

Megan Ferkel Earhart focuses her practice on estate planning, tax planning, probate, trust administration and related income, gift and estate tax matters. She has authored and co-authored articles on estate planning in the Los Angeles Daily Journal and Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine and lectures to audiences on estate planning, including the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the Jewish Community Foundation and USC Trusts and Estates Conference. She serves on the Professional Advisor Speaker Series Committee for the Jewish Community Foundation, and was also included in The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch list. Megan earned her LL.M., with High Distinction, from Loyola Law School, her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and her B.A., with Distinction and Honors, from the University of Michigan.

Lara Leitner has experience with a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters with particular expertise litigating land use disputes involving entitlements, the California Environmental Quality Act, the Housing Accountability Act, and other planning and zoning matters. Lara also has government-related litigation experience, including government bidding, public contracting, prevailing wages, and municipal affairs. She also regularly litigates construction defect and business dispute cases. She has successfully litigated cases in both federal and state courts and has achieved favorable settlements through alternative dispute resolution, including arbitrations and mediations. Lara also routinely represents clients in administrative proceedings before governmental agencies. Lara earned her J.D. from UCLA School of Law and two B.S. degrees from the University of Michigan.
