Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP Promotes Laterals to Partner

LOS ANGELES—Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP (JMBM) is pleased to announce the election of four attorneys to the Firm’s partnership: Daniel Freedman, Ryan Nowicki, Andrew Steenbock and Stuart Tubis, each of whom joined JMBM as lateral hires.

“Each of these fine lawyers has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to serving our clients,” said Bruce Jeffer, JMBM’s managing partner. “I am delighted to welcome them to the Firm’s partnership.”

The following attorneys have been elected partners:

Daniel Freedman is based in the Firm’s Los Angeles office and is a member of JMBM’s Government, Land Use, Environment & Energy Department, where he assists clients on matters relating to real estate development, zoning, land use entitlements, and compliance with complex local, state and federal regulations such as CEQA, NEPA, California Coastal Act, federal and state housing laws, and historic designation regulations.

Ryan Nowicki, based in Los Angeles, is a member of JMBM’s Taxation, Trusts & Estates Department. His practice focuses on domestic and international tax planning, tax controversies (including tax audits, appeals, and litigation), business structuring and complex business transactions (including sales, mergers and acquisitions, and 1031 like-kind exchanges), and nonprofit tax-exempt organization law.

Andrew Steenbock is based in Los Angeles and is a member of the Firm’s Taxation, Trusts & Estates Department. Andrew focuses on estate and gift tax planning, probate, and trust administration. He advises individuals and business entities on a range of tax planning and estate planning matters, and he represents trustees and executors in the administration of trusts and estates.

Stuart Tubis is based in San Francisco, and is a member of the Firm’s Litigation Department. He represents businesses in a wide range of matters, particularly in defending against Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) claims, representing their interests in civil litigation and Department of Justice investigations. Stuart’s experience extends to all aspects of litigation, including negotiation, binding arbitration, trial advocacy, settlement and alternative dispute resolution.

“Our Firm supports laterals with a stable business platform and collaborative environment where they can build their practices with confidence,” said Stan Gibson, JMBM’s hiring partner. “It is a pleasure to celebrate the accomplishments of these exceptional lawyers.”

Freedman, Nowicki, Steenbock and Tubis will become partners of JMBM effective January 1, 2021.
