JMBM Attorney Jeffrey D. Goldman Named One of Daily Journal’s Top Intellectual Property Lawyers in California

LOS ANGELES—Jeffrey D. Goldman, Chair of the Entertainment Litigation Group at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP, was named one of the Daily Journal’s Top 75 Intellectual Property Lawyers in California in 2019.

The Daily Journal’s profile of Goldman highlights his representation of the music industry, and notes that when litigation is finally resolved, the technology used to deliver the disputed content can be already obsolete:

“We’re now almost 25 years into the DMCA [Digital Millennium Copyright Act] era, and it’s definitely time for Congress to take another crack at legislation that addresses the way music is distributed today,” [Goldman] said. “And whatever they pass now, I’m sure they’ll have to revisit again in 10 to 15 years. That’s what keeps this area of law fresh and interesting.”

In addition to his recognition by the Daily Journal, Goldman has been honored as one of the premier entertainment attorneys by Variety, listed among the nation’s top copyright litigators by Legal 500, and awarded an Honorary Gold Record by the Recording Industry Association of America for his success in the seminal Napster case.
