Assistant United States Attorney Michael Anthony Brown Joins White-Collar Crime Group at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP

LOS ANGELES—Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP (JMBM) is pleased to announce that Michael Anthony Brown, former Assistant United States Attorney, Criminal Appeals Section, has joined the Firm as a Partner in JMBM’s Corporate Defense and Investigations Group.

“Tony Brown will be a great resource to our corporate clients, many of which operate in a worrisome environment where federal and state investigations, enforcement actions filed by the DOJ and Attorneys General, and qui tam lawsuits are proliferating,” said Stanley Gibson, Chair of JMBM’s Lateral Hiring Committee.

JMBM’s corporate defense lawyers represent public and private entities, boards of directors, executives and individuals from numerous industries including health care, manufacturing, banking and financial services. The Group’s work has involved healthcare, bank and loan fraud, anti-corruption matters (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, UK Bribery Act and supply chain compliance), insider trading, money laundering, securities and accounting issues, cybersecurity and privacy, electronic surveillance, tax matters, campaign finance, environmental crimes, defense contractor investigations, insurance fraud, and a variety of international proceedings, including extradition.

“Sophisticated organizations understand the value of conducting internal investigations as the financial and reputational stakes are often extraordinary,” said Anthony Pacheco, Chair of JMBM’s Corporate Defense and Investigations Group. “Tony’s considerable skills and experience will be highly beneficial to our clients, and it will be a pleasure to work with him.”

The Group’s lawyers have extensive experience representing clients in Grand Jury, SEC, FINRA, NASD, NYSE, NFA, FTC, JAMS, AAA, ADR and parallel proceedings, as well as in Federal and State judicial proceedings and trials.

“I look forward to working with Anthony Pacheco and all of the first-rate lawyers at JMBM,” said Brown, whose experience also includes several years with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s white-collar crime group.
