TIBURON, Calif.— On January 17, 2018, the Tiburon Town Council appointed Jon Welner, a partner at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP (JMBM), to fill a vacancy on the Tiburon Town Council. Welner will serve as a councilmember for the remainder of the term and then seek reelection in November 2018.
Welner is an environmental and land use lawyer who has been practicing law for 22 years. He regularly represents private companies, local governments, and nonprofits in addressing the complex regulations governing environmental and land use issues in California. Welner said he looks forward to applying these skills on behalf of the Tiburon community.
“Tiburon is a very special and beautiful place,” said Welner. “I look forward to working with my fellow councilmembers to preserve our village atmosphere and to seek new and better opportunities to bring our community together.”
Benjamin Reznik, the Chair of JMBM’s Government, Land Use, Energy, and Environment (GLUEE) Department, commented, “This is an excellent example of how JMBM lawyers provide leadership in their communities as well as in the legal profession. Jon will be a great asset to the community.”
Jon Welner has long been involved in public service. He has served on the Tiburon Planning Commission for six years, and is currently on the Board of the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center. He has served for many years in leadership roles in the environmental sections of the State Bar of California (now California Lawyers Association) and the San Francisco Bar Association.
