December 5, 2013–Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP (JMBM) is pleased to announce that this week Jon Welner, a partner in the Firm’s Environmental Practice Group, was elected Chair of the Environmental Law Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco. Welner has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Environmental Law Section since 2010 and is the outgoing Treasurer.
“It’s a great time to be an environmental lawyer”, said Welner. “The field is awash with innovation and change, and California and the Bay Area are at the epicenter. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Environmental Law Section to help shape the discussion.”
Welner has expertise in environmental, natural resource, and land use law. His practice covers all aspects environmental law, including the regulation of air, water, hazardous substances, radiological materials, power plants, renewable energy companies, infill and coastal development, and “brownfields.” Welner also represents clients on complex prevailing wage matters. He is the Vice Chair of the Planning Commission of the Town of Tiburon.
