Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP is pleased to announce the addition of entertainment attorney David Bauer Stern as a partner in the Firm’s Los Angeles office. With nearly 30 years of professional experience, Stern is one of the few media-entertainment attorneys skilled in both litigation and transactional work.

Prior to joining JMBM, Stern served as General Counsel and Head of Business Affairs of Key Brand Entertainment, where he worked with JMBM on matters such as the acquisition of the Broadway Across America assets from Live Nation, as well as Key Brand’s recent acquisition and related financing, and the sale of its Canon and Panasonic Theatres in Toronto.

Stern has also served as a legal and business affairs executive at media companies such as News Corp., Viacom and New Wave Entertainment. He brings with him a rich entertainment background including all manner of television, film and legitimate stage development and production agreements with studios such as Twentieth Century Fox and Showtime; and co-production, finance and distribution agreements for film, television and stage. As General Counsel of an Internet company, Stern also negotiated a precedent-setting interactive game launch on Stern has also handled complex intellectual property litigation matters involving various forms of media while he was in private practice at prominent law firms in Los Angeles and New York City.

Stern received his JD from Columbia University, and his BA in Economics and History from Connecticut College.
