Law Technology News Awards JMBM For Its Innovative Use of Technology During A Trial

LOS ANGELES – February 14, 2006 – Jeffer, Mangels, Butler & Marmaro LLP (JMBM), one of California’s foremost full-service law firms, was selected as a co-recipient of Law Technology News’ 2005 Technology Award in the "Most Innovative Use of Technology During a Trial" category.

JMBM received the award as a result of its work in Medtronic Sofamor Danek, Inc. v. Michelson, a case where the Firm’s attorneys used cutting-edge electronic discovery tools to uncover key pieces of evidence buried in millions of pages of electronic documents. These documents ultimately were presented to a jury, utilizing various trial presentation technologies.

E-Discovery technology allowed us to efficiently review millions of pages of electronic documents related to this case in a relatively short amount of time, " said Stanley Gibson, co-lead JMBM attorney for Michelson. "As a result of evidence uncovered, our team of attorneys were able to successfully achieve a $570 million verdict in our clients’ favor."

An independent panel of jurors, comprised of Law Technology News’ Editorial Advisory Board, chose the winners of the award based on nominations from the magazine’s 40,000 subscribers. Award recipients were recognized last month at the LegalTech Conference in New York. JMBM Attorney Stanley Gibson was in attendance to receive the award on behalf of the Firm.
